Folding WIN

Yeah... that was not us. BUT ONE DAY we too shall be able to make the image using many folded t-shirts. Folding challenge for LPS methinks!

Silence..

Is so deliciously sweet. Finally after a week of the dryer sounding like it's been grinding chicken bones, we replaced one small component and now its as quiet as a mouse (yes, it still squeaks occasionally but its a machine, so it does make some noise!) I can hear the music and we can talk to each other without having to scream.
Excellent way to end the week!

For those of you that popped in yesterday for our sale- go you! the sale lasts throughout August, so come on in, we're quieter now :)

Where can I put my print?!

Here's a brand spanking new part of our website, designed to help give you a visual of where we can print on a garment and our maximum print size for the specific area.

http://www.londonprintservice.com/printpos.html

Just click on the side links (eg: 'Max' or 'Chest') and the chosen section will appear on the t-shirt with a helpful information box beneath.

I hope this gives you all a better understanding of where you can print and hopefully helps you choose what you want!

Sale starts today!

So our in-house summer sale starts today and what a beautiful day to start it on!

28 degrees makes us pretty darn hot here in the factory (as the dryer I work next to is generally set at 190 degrees... you can imagine the heat that comes off that baby!) but everyone here at LPS is alright with that because we get to enjoy the weather when we leave! For once it will be hot for us! Hooray!
We are however very jealous of the kids/ teachers on school holidays. Lunch time while it's sunny shall be taken on the roof terrace then! (in our minds!)

If you're interested in our sale, t-shirts are going from £1, £3 or £5 and our shop is open from 9am- 4pm.

If you'd like to contact us about getting t-shirts printed for a specific design, our offices are open from 9am- 5pm  and you can contact us by calling: 0208 854 1111
or e-mailing: sales@londonprintservice.com

We'd love to see you down here!

It's a mad world

Here’s a nice piece by Russel Brand on the recent death of Amy Winehouse.
We are all shocked by her death here at LPS and encourage anyone who has or who knows anyone who has any drug addiction to seek help to stop.

Our condolances also go out to those in Norway. Such a terrible event should not go unnoticed against the death of a famous celebrity. Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the recently deceased.

Crumball Rally

Today we printed event t-shirts for 'Crumball Rally'.
For those of you who are unaware of who/ what the Crumball Rally is, it's an old banger (cars not sausages...) rally. The idea is that you get a car for £200 or under and then race it across the globe somewhere leaving from England. Sounds fun right?! :) Their slogan is "Buy it, Paint it, Thrash it, Trash it" so that should give you an idea...
Here's a link to their main website: http://www.crumballrally.com/

We've printed two designs for them, a 1 colour design and a 3 colour design. No doubt you'll see them pop up in pictures! (Yes, thats right, pictures from our gloriously crappy camera!)

I reccomend a look at the sight, it is rather fun. (If I disappear this time next year, you'll know where I'll be.)
And if any of you are actually participating in the rally, or see them on your travels, all of us here would love to see some shots :)

Hope you are fabulous!

The promised pictures

Taken on the crappy work camera. We're "investing" in a new one, by that I mean I'm having to bring my camera in which undoubtably means that the most recent images will get to you in about 6 months, when I remember to bring them in on a USB stick... Enjoy!

Time flies...

When you are so incredibly busy that you look like a headless chicken trying to run a pack of dense sheep which can't seem to understand a word you're saying because as a headless chicken, you have no head and therefore can't speak... not that chickens can "speak"...

Yes. We've been that busy that we've started to boarder on the edge of insanity in the factory.

However despite the mad rushing around and incredible heat that has been pushing us to the limits (I love you sunshine but for the love of god, only get really hot on the weekends PLEASE) we've managed the awesome feat of printing things on time AND beautifully. (no, we're NOT modest, we're damned amazing.)

As usual I've been trying to take some decent pictures of the prints that we've completed recently. They will be with you shortly. Along with, no doubt, some sort of odd quip.

Speak to you all shortly! (unless for some particular reason, we're all attacked by zombies, if this is the case, remember to destroy the head!)

Giggles

Just checked out the jobsheet, under Rock Boutique was: 'Pinup Girl', the next job directly underneath was 'Swallows'...

Now, I don't know what your sense of humour is like but it made me chuckle something wonderful!

(I'd like to point out that they are seperate designs, both are pretty self explainitory- and pretty damn awesome, so no wrong impressions please!)

To check out more of Rock Boutique clothing, please go to:

The Rock Boutique

Recently we have been printing t-shirts for The Rock Boutique; a quirky fashion outlet from Camden that specialises in original and unique pieces of clothing. (They are due to have items released in Topshop! Very exciting stuff)

Here's some smaple pictures of what is soon to come in their range:

Not enough time in the day

An extra hour of sun and yet there still hasn't been enough time to keep you all updated! Yes, I apologise, it's very unprofessional of me.

So what have LPS been up to these past few weeks? Here's an idea, the inside of the factory looks like a beehive, us workers running around everywhere (imagine if you will, the ink as honey and if you really really want to, a team of people dressed as bees) we've been printing like there's no tomorrow down there! It's quite a sight. Expect more Rock Boutique (new designs on tees and off shoulder sweaters, grab them while you can!) to be jumping out at you from store windows.

So as it's the London Marathon this sunday (thats the 17th April) we've had lots of runners (to join our worker bees) come in and have their names put on their vests; there's a lot of cameras at the marathon, people want to look their best! If you're running the marathon, or know someone who is, we'll be happy to put their name and charity onto their vest! (ah yes, a little shameless promotion is not a bad thing, forgive me? :-) )

Hope you're enjoying what's left of the sunshine, we're loving it here!

St. Patricks Day

Guinness. Synonymous with St. Patricks day. Also with incredibly cool, quirky and sometimes completely random adverts. Remember Horses running through the water as a wave? A giant Guiness pint glass made of books?

Well, I'm challenging you to make up your own quirky version of a St. Patricks day t-shirt.
Think like Guinness. Maybe drink it whilst thinking? (please drink responsibly) (also, Guinness, please can we have some credit for shamelessly advertising you...)

I'd love to see your designs and what a fab story to tell when you're celebrating St. Patricks day.

INK INK INK, I HAVE NO TIME TO THINK!

Ever wondered what ways we can print for you here at LPS? Here's a few shots I've taken to give you a better idea of what we can produce.

PUFF PRINT. Featured with a marbled effect. The Ink is raised off the garment

DISCHARGE PRINT. This type of print is bleached so it is in the fibers rather than on them. If you are considering ordering this type of print, order extra garments as if something goes wrong, the ink is bleached in and cannot be removed! (Not that things go wrong of course! It's precautionary!)

TTC. A transfer print. Great for small runs as you don't have to pay to have screens set up.

GOLD FOIL FINISH. The foil is added to the ink after it has been screen printed. Also available in SILVER.

FLUORESCENT INK. I don't think this one needs explaining much, Fluoro available in most colours.

GOLD GLITTER. Glitter ink (also available in SILVER) is put over any base ink colour.

MOTHERS DAY

MOTHERS DAY IS SUNDAY, APRIL 3RD!!!

We may be mentioning this a little early but we don't want you to have to rush around last minute and dissappoint your dear old ma with garage flowers.
We've just got a new mug press in (all our mugs are printed in-house) and we all know that mums are in strong need of tea or coffee first thing, so get her something that she can use forever- you can even throw in garage flowers for good measure if you want!

Things you could have as designs:
Remember that photo of you as a kid with your face smeared in chocolate cake? OR the one where you're in your first party outift? OR a nice recent pic of you and your beloved ma? Well why not get one of those put onto a mug with a nice message of smoochy love (because it's a good thing to do to remind her how much she means to you)

For mothers who aren't as soppy, you could always go for the comedy mug. What mum wouldn't like a hunky man with a silly bit of text covering his, erm, area. ?! Don't be prudish, how'd you think your mother made you!

http://www.londonprintservice.com/mugs.html

Sublimation Printed Mugs

We can print mugs in-house using a technique known as sublimation. This allows for full colour prints, such as photographs, to be applied to a standard white mug.
For best results artwork should be supplied in hi-resolution format.
MAX PRINT AREA: 210 x 85mm
No Minimum Order! :)

Royal Mugs!

To celebrate the engagement of Prince William and Catherine Middleton, local artist/ designer Jane Denham has created this fashionable mug to blow all the other contemporary royal wedding designs out of the water! (or tea...)

The mugs are currently available to purchase on eBay; to view the seller list please copy and paste the link provided into a new browser:

We were attacked by Pterodactyls last friday. Luckily I was on holiday but from what I hear our factory crew only managed to subdue them by wrestling them to the ground and putting a tshirt over their wings.
For hard wearing t-shirts we suggest using fruit of the loom.

On a more serious note, it's sunny outside (yay!) and I'm currently wearing sunglasses indoors because my computer faces the window, which although is gloriously bathed in sunshine, I can't really see very well. So as I figure it, it's deffinitely going to be t-shirt season soon, here's a picture of our latest design from the LPS range of clothing:

Enjoy the sunshine wherever you are!

They're watching!

Ominous looking aren't they?
They're laying in wait.
*shudder*

Stark RAVING Friday

LPS printers have abandoned our usual calm/ mellow/ supremely chillled out (pick one!) music (there's usually a LOT of jazz and chill down here in the factory... although occassionally our ears are blighted with the dischord of Kiss FM. but that's beyond the point!)
So this afternoon we have decided to rave.
Yes.

Standing at the end of the dryer has never been so fun!

So continue in the spirit of raving this friday night and enjoy your weekend! It's nearly home-time!

Ass-orted

'Canary' Yellow

Do you know the old story about how the miners used to take a canary down into the mines with them and then if it died it was unsafe to be down there? Well, my own personal canary is dead. That is, my will to be working surrounded by great hills of yellow hi-vis has died.
For the moment though, we're not printing them but I can still see their yellow out of the corner of my eyes, mocking me.

On a better note, we finished printing 10,000 bags and have started printing a variety of things. Which is fantastic becuase it's nice to look at new designs!

We've started to print custom t-shirts for Porsche: 'Limited edition Porsche 964RS t-shirts' if anyone owns (or knows someone who does) one of these models of porsche, then take a look at the link! Customisation is optional, you can have your chassis  http://www.londonprintservice.com/porschepromo.html

Hope you all are having a fabulous week so far, more pictures to come of our antics.

Money, money, money

Money is  big issue at the moment (what with our economical climate 'n all) so I thought it would be important for you to understand how we calculate our printing costs.

SO...HOW MUCH DOES PRINTING COST?!

The cost of printing depends on a number of factors:
  1. The number of colours in your artwork. (THIS is the most important factor!)
  2. The number of positions you artwork is in (for example you might have a 2 colour design on the front and a 1 colour design on the back).
  3. The number of garments you wish to print on.
  4. The way in which the garment is printed.
**There are NO set prices as each print job requires different artwork! **

The best way to get a quote is to go to our main website: www.londonprintservice.com
or alternitavely email: sales@londonprintservice.com

Hope that helps you!

s-Knickers

Well... The yellow is still here and after so much unpacking, I'm beginning to get RSI in my wrist. (For all you dirty minded people out there, yes it really is unpcking the hi-vis that's making it hurt. Honest.) So I guess that calls for a tea break? Whilst I'm enjoying a cuppa, maybe I should sort out something for Valentines day?! I'm thinking silly printed knickers. You can never go wrong with comedy knickers. I think...

If you haven't already got your loved one something for valentines, why not order some form of personalised garment? We do romantic things too! It's not all silly, I promise :)

Also if anyone also fancies sending me something here at the office (or the factory, as that happens to be where I live in LPS land) chocolates would be fantastic right now.

Enjoy the rest of your Tuesday, only three days left until the weekend!

Bulking out?

Anyone interested in making bulk orders (for a business or so forth) we have an additional website: www.lps-screenprint.com
Go check it out!

We all live in a Yellow

Factory...

Not as exciting as a submarine but at the moment (considering the time of year) it's as stuffy as one! And it's yellow on the inside with all of the beautifully printed hi-vis around. Luckily for me and the rest of the printing team, we have just over 9,000 left...

On another note, we have a new member of the team! (This was celebrated with homemade gingerbread men) She's only here for a month though as it's for work experience but boy! am I glad we've got some more help downstairs! Starting to get very busy around these parts again which is great because now we have lots to do! However, if there are a lack of posts, it's because I'm at the end of the dryer, catching all of your t-shirts. You may thank me in your own time (chocolates are always nice)

Nearly time for the end of work and the weekend. So make a cuppa to get you through the last few hours of the day at work and enjoy the rest of your Friday!

T-artwork

"T-shirt artwork" or T-artwork is very important part of LPS life. If you send us a bad image or bad artwork (a low definition picture for example) then you'll end up with a bad print. The best t-shirts are the ones with a well thought out, high-quality design so if you're thinking of sending us something, here's something to remember if you're a designer:

Vector graphic images (EPS, AI, CDR) should be saved with ALL FONTS CONVERTED TO OUTLINES (also known as paths). Saving a Jpeg or Gif file as an Eps does not automatically turn it into a vector graphic.

For those of you who read that and had no idea what it means, just make sure you send us as high a resolution picture as you possibly can!

Our design team can work with almost any design submitted, even if it's a doodle on a piece of paper, so if you can't get a hi-res image don't be worried to send us your stuff! We'll do our best to give you what you want :)

Ain't no sunshine... Outside.

... Inside the factory however it is an entirely different matter...
12,500 hi-vis jackets to unpack and the fluorescent yellow has given the place a strange glow. Not quite the vitamin D fix we all need here but at least it's not gloomy inside anymore!

And just for the record, 5 pallets left to go!

Have you ever felt like Godzilla?

Today we've been having a shift around the office and the factory. A (brand spanking) new machine means we need to move a few things to make some space! But I couldn't help feeling with all the boxes piled up high, that I was Godzilla walking around New York city.

And so it Begins...

We are the London Print Service (or LPS for short!) and we've joined the world of blogging to give everyone an idea of what the world of LPS garment printing is all about!

On this blog you will find some useful stuff, with a little bit of funny stuff thrown in for good measure. (Although, not sure we'll be putting up the work Christmas Party pictures just yet...)

So to begin, we should probably tell you about ourselves and what our company does:

To put it simply, we print t-shirts (or hoodies, or jackets or aprons or bags and whatevever other garments you throw our way!) and we're based in Greenwich, London.
We do both custom and commercial prints- these can be one-off gifts (Valentines day for example, we've printed knickers with love messages on in the past!) or popular consumables (Heard of Malibu anyone? Yes, we've printed for them)

A list of the clients we cater for:
  • Individuals (thats you!)
  • Teams, clubs and groups
  • Musicians and bands
  • Stag and Hen parties
  • Campaigners
  • Charities
  • Church and Religious groups
